Breakthrough Celebrates 25 Years

February 19, 2018

On February 13, Breakthrough held its annual Raise Your Hand dinner in support of Breakthrough San Francisco.  Celebrating its 25th anniversary year, Breakthrough counts on this community event to provide essential financial support for Breakthrough's high-impact programming with students and aspiring teachers, while celebrating the program's amazing participants and supporters. This year's keynote speaker, Jim Shelton, is an SF Day parent and he oversees education strategy for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Mr. Shelton previously served as Deputy Secretary of Education at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Guests were also invited to honor three founders: Al Gonzales, Sally Rosenblatt, and Barbara Scavullo. Former Breakthrough students Angel "Cheese" Padilla and Queenie Li also shared remarks, reflecting on their experiences and the impact of the Breakthrough program on their lives. It was a wonderful evening and we sincerely thank all those who attended, volunteered, and offered their support for Breakthrough.  Thank you!
