Giving Thanks at SF Day

November 28, 2017

THANK YOU to all who gathered at SF Day on Thanksgiving morning to prepare meals for our neighbors at Mercy Terrace and Zygmunt Arendt House.  Together, our community members prepared more than 300 meals complete with turkey and all the fixins'.  The reports from our delivery drivers were of residents excited to come and collect their meals, desserts, and handmade cards.  We hope that the holiday cards created and contributed by SF Day faculty and staff, SF Day students, and students at Cathedral School for Boys, also delivered cheer to the residents of Mercy Terrace and Zygmunt Arendt. We are grateful that our neighbors at AME Zion were able to join us as well. We would also like to thank Darioush Epicurus for donating their time and culinary talents once again this year - what is a Thanksgiving meal without the delicious gravy?  A round of applause also goes to Amie Nenninger and Jean Covington, our Community Outreach Chairs, for spearheading this special event. In their words: To our families, our neighbors, our faculty and staff - those who worked behind the scenes, manned a station, rolled napkins, put amazing artistic effort into the cards, assembled meals, sliced pies, kept careful count, took pictures,  delivered meals, ran for extra cranberry sauce, or watched over the playground overflow - thank you for participating in this lovely community tradition.

Thank you to parent Lisa Kessler, for capturing such lovely moments and sharing them with all of us.
