CultureFest Rockstock
We are thrilled to announce this year's annual celebration and discounted tuition fundraiser, CultureFest Rockstock, will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 2010. We will be returning to Bimbo’s historic nightclub in North Beach for a rock festival experience celebrating a musical mix: rock ‘n’ roll, blues, jazz, bluegrass and more. Main stage entertainment booked to date includes two cover bands (one of the Rollling Stones and the other of Tom Petty), as well as the ever-popular SFDS faculty band, The Red Slips.
CultureFest isn't just a party; it is SFDS’s largest fundraising event of the year, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward our discounted tuition program. One of the cornerstones of the SFDS mission is diversity and inclusiveness in our community. The discounted tuition program is the way that we turn that ideal into a reality.
Rockstock Quiz Night & Marketplace
On April 19th, Dr. Jackson will host Student Quiz Night Rockstock 2010! Students of all ages will get to test their knowledge of rock ‘n’ roll. Do you know the color of the Beatles’ famous submarine? What local rock trio turned their album into a musical in 2009? All this and more! After the quiz, pizza will be served in the cafeteria. RSVP to Ann Pattison by Wednesday, April 14th.
Kick off Culturefest: RockStock in the Masonic Courtyard. On April 19th, we will have our very own RockStock marketplace. We will have all it all: tshirts,rock and roll memorabilia, baked goodies from our very own parents. Coffee and fun. Join us early on the 19th and late too! Time to
get your party outfit ready for May 1 event.

CultureFest Auction Items Needed
The CultureFest auction is the primary way that we fundraiser for this event. Parents are encouraged to solicit items from merchants with whom they do business on a regular basis (merchants routinely donate to valued customers). Parents should also consider donating home-made objects or personal services. Time and again, the personal items – home cooked meals, parties, guided hikes- receive the most interest from bidders. Our hope is that every family at the School will donate or solicit one to two items for the online auction.

All proceeds from this event will support our discounted program. Last year’s event raised funds to provide tuition discounts to more than 25% of the student body who otherwise could not have attended the School. Every dollar raised will help ensure that San Francisco Day School can continue to provide an inclusive and accessible education for students and families of all socio-economic backgrounds.
