Our school year program is heavily reliant on volunteers from schools and universities around the Bay Area, including San Francisco Day School, Riordan, Lick Wilmerding, University, and San Francisco State. These students are committed to being a positive influence in the lives of the City’s young people and giving something back to their community. We are currently recruiting public school students, as we feel they will further diversify and enrich our volunteer population.

A unique feature of our summer program, and one that we feel is largely responsible for its success, is our staff of talented college and high school students who handle all teaching and most administration. Summerbridge’s success as a teacher-training program—and in particular, its success in drawing students of color into the field of teaching—has earned national acclaim.
