Applicant Visits and Tests

Visits

As part of the admission process, your child will visit San Francisco Day School. The admission packet contains a visit request date form that families should fill out and return with their child's application. A date and time for a school visit will be assigned to your child and mailed to you by December 17. Visit descriptions for each grade level follow.

Kindergarten (about 2 hours)

Sixteen applicants, in small groups, will spend time involved in pre-Kindergarten activities. The format of the session will be similar to that of a Kindergarten class at San Francisco Day School. You are welcome to stay at school while your child is visiting or leave and return at the end of your child's visit.

Visits will begin the week of January 14-18, 2008, and continue the week of January 22-25, 2008 (there will be no school on January 21, 2008). You may request either a morning visit (8:30 am to 10:15 am) or an afternoon visit (12:30 pm to 2:15 pm).

Grade 1 (about 2 hours)

Sixteen applicants, in small groups, will spend time involved in Kindergarten activities. The format of the session will be similar to that of a Kindergarten class at San Francisco Day School. You are welcome to stay at school while your child is visiting or leave and return at the end of your child's visit.

The visit will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. You may request either a morning visit (8:30 am to 10:15 am) or an afternoon visit (12:30 pm to 2:15 pm).

Grades 2-3 (half day)

Your child will have a classroom visit with his or her current grade from 8:30 am until 11:00 am.

The visits will be scheduled on an individual basis during the month of February.

Grade 6 (half day)

All 6th grade applicants will visit as a group from 8:30 am until 11:00 am. The format of the session will be similar to a partial day of 5th grade at San Francisco Day School.

The visit will be on Monday, February 11, 2008.

Grades 4, 5, and 7 (full day)

Your child will have a classroom visit with his or her current grade for a full day, approximately 8:00 am until 3:00 pm.

The visits will be scheduled on an individual basis during the month of February.

Tests

Applicants for grades 5 through 8 may take an admission exam at San Francisco Day School on Sunday, February 10, 2008. There will be other schools offering admission tests. Many independent schools will share results.
