Tuition & Tuition Assistance

San Francisco Day School is committed to providing tuition assistance on the basis of family need. Tuition asssistance applications (PFS) are mailed to all applicants. These forms must be completed and submitted by January 31, 2007.

  • Tuition for the 2007-2008 school year is $21,090.
  • 19% of our students receive tuition assistance.
  • Grants range from 5% to 95% of tuition with an average grant of $14,170 in 2006-07.

Documents required and deadlines to note:

1. Parents' Financial Statement (PFS): January 31, 2008

The PFS must be submitted with the appropriate fee by this date. You must either fill out and mail a hard copy of the form or complete the online version. The postal address for submitting a hard copy form is:

School and Student Service for Financial Aid
P.O. Box 6657
Princeton, NJ 08541-6657

The PFS may be completed online by going to https://sss.ets.org/pfsHome.do

Please note that our school code is 7099.

Also at this time, a photocopy or printed version of the completed PFS form should be sent to San Francisco Day School.

2. A signed copy of IRS Form 4506: January 31, 2008

This form allows SFDS to request an official photostatic copy of your income tax return. In order for the Tuition Assistance Committee to process your application, a signed IRS Form 4506 must be in our possession. Please disregard the request for a check payable to the IRS.

3. Photocopies of Federal 1040 Forms with supporting schedules for 2006 and 2007: February 29, 2008

Parents who received tuition assistance from SFDS last year do not need to resubmit their 2005 tax forms.

On March 12, 2008 , decisions on awards are mailed from SFDS to applicants who have met the deadlines above.

Divided families

The School will consider the assets of both parents before making any award, and cannot be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses. If the custodial parent has remarried, the School will consider the assets of the stepparent, always bearing in mind the obligation of that stepparent to his or her own children. An individual PFS and tax form must be submitted by each parent and stepparent.

Late applications

Limited funds sometimes remain available after the initial awards have been offered in March. Families whose application for admission have been initiated after the above deadlines are encouraged to proceed with the required forms although resources cannot be guaranteed and amounts at this time are likely to be reduced.
