The Admission Process

Getting to know us

The regular admission procedure begins in September, one year before the child's anticipated entrance. Kindergarten Applicants whose date of birth falls before August 1, 2003 are eligible for the 2008-09 school year.

Interested families whose children are applying in the current year should call the Admission Office to reserve a space at an Open House. After attending an open house, optional group tours for parents/guardians of applicants are given from early November through December. Tours are scheduled on various weekday mornings from 8:30 to 10:15.

During the tour, parents/guardians visit classrooms and meet current Day School families and teachers. In addition, parents/guardians will participate in a question-and-answer session with the Head of School, the Director of Admission, the Heads of the Upper and Lower School, and faculty members.

Getting to know you

Applications are due no later than noon on December 21, 2007. Parent/guardian meetings must be scheduled before Thursday, December 20, 2007. Applicants in grades K and 1 visit as a group in January. Applicants in grade 6 visit as a group in February. All other grades visit their current grade in February.

Decision letters

Decision letters are mailed on March 12, 2008.

Tuition assistance

The San Francisco Day School is committed to providing tuition assistance on the basis of family need. Tuition assistance applications are mailed to all applicants. These forms must be completed and submitted by January 31, 2008. The tuition for the 2007-2008 school year is $21,090.
