The admission process begins in the Fall preceding a child's entrance
and includes the following steps:
1.
Open House
The parents or guardians of prospective applicants attend an Open House to meet SFDS administrators,
faculty, and families, and to learn about the School's philosophy and
curriculum.
This year's Open Houses will be held
on October 2, October 16, November 8, and November 28. Please call the Admission Office at (415) 568-3611, to reserve
a space at one of the Open Houses. We will begin to accept
reservations for Open House dates on September 10, 2007.

Information packet and application
Information packets and application forms are available at an Open House.
3.
Completed application and fee
The submission deadline for completed applications and application fees
is noon on December 21, 2007.
4.
Parents/Guardian interview
Once you have submitted an application, call the Admission Office to schedule
an interview. Parent/Guardian interviews are conducted from October
through
early January. Please be sure to schedule your interview before December
20, 2007, to ensure availability.
Note that parent/guardian interviews must take place before January
11, 2008.
No interviews will be scheduled after this date.
5.
Optional school tour After submitting an application, families of applicants may call or email the
Admission Office at (415) 568-3611 or admission@sfds.net, to make a reservation for
an optional group
tour. Tours are scheduled
from
early November to early January.
6.
Student records
Submit a student evaluation form and a record release form, both available
in the information/application packet, to your child's current school.
7.
Applicant visit
Receive assignment from SFDS of the date for your child's visit. Applicant
visits are scheduled in January and February (group or individual visit
depending on grade).
8.
Entrance exam
Parents and guardians of applicants for grades 5 - 8, please make arrangements
for the your child to take the entrance examination. This year the exam
date is Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 2 p.m.
