Gaia & Uranus By E.W. Gaia and Uranus were known as the mother and father of the first Greek gods and humans, and Gaia represented the earth, and Uranus represented the sky. Gaia was the first god, who had Uranus as her child. They then had more children, one group being the Titans. They were the first gods so they weren’t exactly what normal Greek gods were like. Most Greek gods were projected as humans, but Gaia and Uranus were things that were used by the humans. They were creation gods and their relationship explains much of the Greek view of the world. Uranus did not like his children. He punished them harshly for the things that they did. When one of his children finally defeated him, his power dropped. This part of a myth shows that the Greeks must have believed that if someone is bad, even a god, they would be punished. Gaia and Uranus were important to the ancient Greeks and are still important now. First, Gaia and Uranus were mother and father in two ways. They took care of the people and supplied them with what they needed to live. They also gave birth to many of the gods that the Greeks loved. Gaia was so important that sometimes her name is still used to talk about the earth. Uranus was also very important today because there is a planet in his sky named after him. This showed that still today people honor how powerful Gaia and Uranus were, though they still need to notice that the sky and earth, take care of us and we should take more care of them. The first of the Greek gods, Gaia and Uranus, the earth and the sky, were the very important mother and father of all. Bibliography Crystal Links. http://www.crystalinks.com/Titans |
