Bellerophon By J.K. Bellerophon was a faithful ancient Greek hero that can be found in Greek culture. But How did the great warrior come to be? His father was Glacus and his wife was Anteia that was divorced to one of Bellerophon’s enemies. But his irresponsibleness to his family made him loose two of his children. He cared mostly for himself. He was famous, handsome and brave but his foolishness devoured this. He was one of the bravest, finest and mightiest hero that ever did incredible deeds. He tamed the magical flying horse, Pegasus, with a golden bridle that the goddess Athena gave him. With this exceptional power, the hero would kill a viscous monster, the Chimera, that was destroying a village. Bellerophon became a famous hero because he rode over the monster with Pegasus and stuck a spear in the Chimera’s mouth. Ironically, he saved thousands of lives and fought fire breathing monsters he died a foolish death, by upsetting the mighty Zeus. This story was important to the ancient Greeks and other people because of the realistic morals and ideas. The main moral is that no is really perfect, even if they do some exceptional things. Another lesson would be to have faith in your religion because that Bellerophon became a hero from a gift from a god and his death was because he thought himself better than them. This tale tells how the Greeks valued heroes from stories and real ones like we do today. Bellerophon was a hero of many characteristics, and he made Greek literature better because of his imperfectness. "Pegasus." Online Art.
