Atlas

By Y.Z.

At first there was nothing, but then there were the Titans.  Atlas was a Titan who played a massive role in Greek mythology. Strength was his power.  Because of it, Zeus, the all-powerful god, forced him to hold the vault of the heavens forever.  His father Impetus, his mother Cymene a sea nymph, and his brothers Edematous and Prometheus were sent away with the rest of the Titans.  Also, Atlas was known for his greed.  Atlas wasn’t very welcoming in a myth in which Perseus visits Atlas so, Perseus held Medusas head up to Atlas and Atlas became solid stone. As a result, it has taught mankind to be welcoming to visitors or you’ll face the consequences.  Atlas was also known for his intelligence.  He was worshipped for being the teacher of theology and would look at the stars for many nights for he was forced to stay were he was.  He was most definitely the titans that helped the human race never to give up.  Though he had to be alone at the end of the world, he will always be a Titan,  the bravest and strongest of them all, the one that made human kind brave.
