Inkheart
 by Cornelia Funke

This is a great book. However, if you get scared or have bad dreams this is not the book for you. It has revolvers and knives in it. It is a book of life and death.
Inkheart is about a little girl named Meggie and her father whom Meggie calls Mo. Meggie’s mother disappeared when Meggie was three.  Mo has a special talent that Meggie doesn’t know about until one rainy night when a man comes to her house, she tells Mo about him and Mo lets him in. Later, the next morning Mo woke Meggie up and told her they were going on a trip to her great aunt’s house and her father’s friend from the night before is coming too. There she learns two things that will change their lives forever. There she encounters the biggest scariest adventure she would ever experience.
I LOVED this book! It gave a lot of show not tell sentences. There were no weaknesses that I would change about this story.
I like the writing of Cornelia Funke because she uses a lot of descriptive sentences or show not tell sentences. For example, instead of saying; “My voice brought the characters to life,” Cornelia Funke wrote, “My voice had brought them slipping out of their story like a bookmark forgotten by reader between the pages.”
I recommend this book because it is an interesting page turner. I recommend it to readers between the ages 10 to 14. People who love fantasy, excitement and cliff hangers will love this book. Many things happen at once which makes it more interesting for the reader. This is a riveting tale with many stories bound into one big book called Inkheart.
