| Ginger Pye is a wonderful
story about a boy named Jerry, his sister Rachel, their uncle Bennie
who is famous in Cranbury because he is an uncle at age four, and their
dog Ginger. It all begins when Jerry sees him at the Speeds barn. He
has to earn money to get Ginger, and he does. Ginger becomes a very
famous dog in Cranbury because he fallows the sent of Jerry all the way
to Jerrys school. There has been a man fallowing them that they never
see, but they know that the man has a yellow hat. They think th at the
man is going after Ginger. Then on Thanksgiving day, Ginger got stolen. Eleanor Estes did a veary good job writing this book she used a lot of veary discriptive words. There were some times that it seemed that a word or sentence did not go there, but it was alwas picked up some how by another sentence. She made at least one exsiting thing happen in a chaper. Which made this book a book you would never want to put down. It was also a great book because there were not a lot of very big words. Here is a quote that I thought was great. "Uncle Bennie, Uncle Bennie, Uncle Bennie!" they all exclaimed affectionately. "Uncle Bennie hero." I thought that that was a great sentacne because she did not just say they shouted but she said exclaimed affectionately. Also if you read the book this is a very big sentence. I would recomemed this book to anyone who likes a book that you never want to put down. I would say grades 3rd- 5th would like this book. Also anyone who has a dog would probly like this book. This is a great book that I enjoyed very much! I sure do hope you will enjoy it as much as I did! |
