THE DISSECTION
During our dissection, I was only able to view the VITREOUS HUMOR after the eye had been cut into. First, my partner and I created a series of slits in the place on the eye where the cornea meets the sclera. As we cut deeper, the watery aqueous humor was released. Next, we carefully removed the lens of the eye and the iris. With these parts gone, we were able to see into the eye chamber. A watery, clear substance filled the interior of the eye. We discovered that this was the vitreous humor. We then removed the vitreous humor from the eye to better observe it. The vitreous humor turned out to be a firm, round, clear, jelly like blob. After enough prodding, however, the vitreous humor appeared to burst, releasing a clear, sticky, watery fluid. Our diagram shows the vitreous humor oozing out of the hole that we made by cutting off the sclera.
