8th Grade Cow Eye Dissection

The ciliary muscle (or ciliary body), is a muscle that allows you to focus your eye. When light enter your eye, the cornea focuses it onto the lens, and then the lens focuses it onto the retina, and the optic nerve transmits the information to the brain. When the ciliary muscle contracts, it stretches the lens. When the ciliary muscle relaxes, the lens becomes more circular. When the lens stretches, it focuses the light less, and allows one to focus on a larger object. When the lens is more round, it refracts the light more, allowing one to focus on smaller smaller objects, or ones farther away.
