8th Grade Cow Eye Dissection |
|

The Optic Nerve is the bundle of nerves that sends visual light signals from the eye to the brain. The Optic Nerve is a very important nervous system, because it changes light waves into electrical waves, in order to send to our brain. In our eyes we cannot have cones and rods with nervous systems. This creates what we call the Blind Spot. The Blind Spot is an area right before the Optic Nerve, where there are no cones or rods. Because there are no cones or rods, we are not able to see from this spot in our eye. If you angle your eye in the correct position, you will be able to experience your blind spot. There will be a big black spot where you will not be able to see anything.
