8th Grade Cow Eye Dissection

Vitreous Humor: The Dissection

On Friday, December 7th, 2001, our class dissected cow eyes. The eyes were kind of slimy and hard to handle, but it was fun dissecting them. Once we cut the cornea, removed the iris, and the lens was taken out, we could reach inside the eyeball and take the vitreous humor out. It was difficult to remove all of the vitreous humor because you had to get your fingers through the hole where the cornea was and scoop out the vitreous humor. It was like a watery, clear jelly. Once you had it in your hand, it was hard to hold and was very slippery. The Vitreous Humor was transparent and felt like jelly with water on it.
