8th Grade Cow Eye Dissection

We were not able to see rods and cones in our dissection because they are microscopic. However we were able to see the retina where the rods and cones are located. To get to the retina you first have to cut away the cornea. To do this take a sharp razor blade and make an incision in the cornea, the vitreous humor should start to come pouring out. When we dissected our eye we had to push the vitreous humor out by squeezing on the walls of the eye. The retina is attached to the back of the eye ball. The retina was a reddish orange color you could see the blood vessels running through it and if felt slimy to the touch. Return to the index.
