8th Grade Cow Eye Dissection

THE CILIARY BODY

The ciliary body and ciliary muscle are in the inner eye just beyond the iris. The ciliary body does many things. The ciliary body creates the aqueous humor, a clear fluid that occupies the front part of the eye and makes sure the cornea stays round. The ciliary muscles main function though is to control your eye lens when your looking at things close up or far away. When looking at things close up your ciliary muscle relaxes letting the lens become less taught and the lens becomes thicker. When you're looking at something far away the ciliary body stretches the lens making it thinner so you can see what it is your looking at. when you squint to try to look at something what you are doing is pulling your ciliary muscle which pulls your lens tight so you can see farther easily. The ciliary body is very important because without it we wouldn't be able to focus our eye.
