personnel, and procedures
Identifies, locates, and uses basic reference materials
- Understands the concepts of hold and reserve
- Identifies interlibrary loan procedures in San Francisco
- Locates, identifies, and uses government documents
Develops skill in selection and use of appropriate materials for curricular
or independent activities
- Uses listening and viewing as skills to evaluate materials
- Uses specialized indexes and dictionaries
- Uses specialized science, social science, mathmatical encyclopedias
- Uses community resources
- Uses San Francisco Public Library resources online
- Uses a historical atlas
- Develops criteria for selecting and evaluating materials: currency, accuracy,
format, detail, special features, purpose
- Uses interlibrary loan
- Locates all materials in the Library Media Center
Develops greater skill in analyzing, interpreting, organizing, and evaluating
information
- Uses subheadings to locate information
- Compiles information from a variety of sources
- Understands footnotes and bibliographies as a source of information and

- Recognizes propaganda techniques
- Recognizes stereotypes and unethical bias in materials
