  • Students explore works of art on the basis of themes (e.g., love, poverty, war).

  • Students are responsible for some of their own research into artists and movements.

  • Students are very aware of how to develop a project in a reflective manner.

  • Students study the idea behind political works of art, satirical work, commercial versus fine art.

Critique / Critical Thinking

  • Students talk about the "grayer" areas such as craft versus fine art and illustration versus painting.
  • Students begin to work in artist/critic teams to develop their communication skills and strengthen their problem-solving skills.
