Students continue to understand the complexity of the connection of
art with other subjects.
Students are more able to look at the work of an artist without being
given any background on that artist and are able to connect the work with other
work that they have experienced.
Technical Skills / Making Art
Students investigate formal ideas presented in art ( composition, light,
color, form, function) in a more focused manner. Knowing the vocabulary well,
they now develop subtle understandings.
Understanding of Concepts / Art Vocabulary
Students explore and understand ideas in art more deeply. They learn
about ideas in various areas of art (i.e., painting, sculpture, architecture)
and why those ideas are particular to that medium (or not).
Critique / Critical Thinking
Students now ask mostly open questions and verbally make a distinction
between personal and academic statements. They are much more slow and thoughtful
in their reflections (during and after the process).
Work Space
Students are responsible for gathering and putting away materials.
Students are knowledgeable about the correct use and cleaning of tools
(matt knives, brushes, etc.).
