Summerbridge Seeks Volunteer Teaching Assistants
June 23rd - August 1st
Day School 7th and 8th grade students who have volunteered at Summerbridge are invited to apply to be Volunteer Teaching Assistants (VTAs) during the summer program. VTAs at Day School Summerbridge serve as leaders and role models to Summerbridge students.  In the classroom, they act as a second teacher, supporting the lead teacher by instructing students in small groups and by working with students who need extra attention. Interested students should download an application and return to the Summerbridge office by April 25th. For more information contact Heidi Erbe.

SFDS Families Wanted to Host Summerbridge Home Stays
We are still in need of host families for the following two Summerbridge faculty:

Sonya Crocker
I grew up in Dallas, Texas, with my parents and two sisters - I'm the middle of three girls! Right now I attend the University of Texas at Austin where I major in Plan II Honors and Psychology. I have loved all my classes but my favorites have been Cross-Cultural Psychology, Eastern Philosophy, Biology, and Gender and Racial Attitudes. My hobbies are reading, dancing (especially salsa), food (especially chocolate and sushi), friends, and traveling! I studied abroad for one year in Mexico and I have traveled to countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, France, Greece, and the Czech Republic. My next adventure will be Australia before I spend the summer in San Francisco! I love learning and new experiences and any opportunity to grow and change as a person.

Khara Gresham
I am a rising Junior at Brown University. As a biology and community health concentrator I am, of course, very interested in the sciences and math, but mostly I have a strong interest in community health issues affecting urban areas. I love to run, and I rowed crew at Brown my freshman year. I enjoy either reading, being with friends, or watching Law and Order when I have free time. I know that this summer will be amazing and I cannot wait to participate in the programs that Summerbridge has developed.

Host responsibilities include providing a home for at least three weeks of our six-week institute. This is an excellent opportunity to get first-hand knowledge of our program through the eyes and ears of a dedicated teacher. If interested, please contact Christine Ranney at 415-568-3660.

Dolphin Volleyball and Basketball 2008 Camps
June 16th-20th
9:00am-12:00pm - Basketball Session
1:00pm-4:00pm - Volleyball Session

The 13th annual girls basketball and or volleyball camp is where parents can be sure their daughter is getting sound instruction from familiar faces of the SFDS faculty.  This camp is for individuals who want to improve their skill and understanding of the game of basketball and or volleyball. The camp will focus on skill development, teamwork, and offensive and defensive positions.  The philosophy of the camp is one that mirrors the San Francisco Day School athletic program, where every child is challenged to improve their individual skill level. The camp is staffed by committed coaches who want to help young athletes strive to improve. The camp is for girls, ages 9-13. The program cost is $185 for each session or $370 for both sessions. For more information, contact Mary O’Brien 568-3642.

Dolphin Soccer Camp

The camp is for boys and girls, K-8. The cost of the program is $185. The camp takes place at the USF Baseball Field. For more information contact Steve Roberts at 568-3643
