Leah and Michael both have two teens of high school age or above and have contacted a number of high school counselors/deans to get their perspective on this transition. SFDS Gym
Tim Wise the critically acclaimed anti-racist author and activist will be visiting SFDS to share his story and perspectives based on his book, "White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son."
Tim Wise offers a highly personal examination of the ways in which racial privilege shapes the lives of most white Americans, overtly racist or not, to the detriment of people of color, themselves, and society. Wise examines the breadth and depth of the phenomenon within institutions such as education, employment, housing, criminal justice, and healthcare.
The entire SFDS faculty, staff, and administration will read Time Wise's book as our summer reading. Everyone is encouraged to join the faculty and read White Like Me this summer. If you would like a copy of the faculty book please contact Renee Otero. The price is $13.95 plus tax.
