Concert for the Community
Friday, February 1, 7:00pm
Concert for Community is a performance of upper school (grades 5-8) students. Performances include solo musical acts, rock bands, jazz bands, dance and more. The entire Day school Community is welcome to attend.

All proceeds from this event go to charities selected by students. This is an opportunity to celebrate the joy of performance by Day School students and put back into the Community. Admission is free and donations are encouraged. Last year we raised over $3000! We would love to beat that number!

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
Friday, February 15
We look forward to celebrating with your family on Grandparents and Special Friends Day! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Dasha Ostrova at 568-3633. Extra invitations are available in the Masonic Lobby. Please make sure that your loved ones RSVP by February 1st.

Cook a meal for the families at the Ronald McDonald House here in San Francisco. This is open to all families K-8 grade!

Parent Education Recommended Upcoming Events:

  1. Convent & Stuart Hall Presents a Free Speakers Event entitled "Raising Financially Responsible Children on Tuesday, January 29th at 7pm.

    A recent study found that young people are reaching adulthood without the basic knowledge to make good decisions about their own finances and their future. Our speaker will introduce age-specifi ideas and tools parents can use with their Grade K-8 children to help develop basic money skills.

    Due to limited space, please RSVP to Schools of the Sacred Heart Parents' Association at 345-5825 or parentsassociation@sacredsf.org.

  2. The  final session of a JCC three-part Parent Education Series called Understanding Children's Behavior led by Anya Lane, DMH is The Sibling Bond.  The session will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tue. Feb. 5, 2008.  Cost is $10 for members and $15 for the public.

  3. The San Francisco Psychotherapy Research Group & the Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco present a free monthly parenting lecture series.

  4. The JCC presents Mary Pipher, author of the 1994 best seller Reviving Ophelia, the book that opened America's eyes to the psychological toll that adolescent girls face growing up in a country rife with sexual abuse, school violence and an overwhelming pressure to be thin.

    Her second book, The Shelter of Each Other: Rebuilding Our Families, explores the loss of community in America that encourages people to develop their own family structures rather than rely on popular culture to do it for them, and urges them to be selective in the media they allow to enter their lives.

    The lecture is Monday, May 5 at 6: 30 p.m.  $15 member, $20 public. Go to the JCC website to purchase tickets.
