First Grade Lead Teacher, Full-time

San Francisco Day School is seeking an experienced first grade classroom lead teacher. SFDS seeks a teacher who likes and understands children, who knows and communicates the subject matter well, and who hopes to play an active role in the San Francisco Day School community.
The position includes serving as first grade lead teacher, in cooperation with a full-time Co-Teacher, for one class of approximately 22 students and teaching reading, language arts, social studies, and mathematics. The teacher is expected to create a classroom environment that reflects and promotes the mission of San Francisco Day School, and to work collaboratively with others on the first grade team and larger school staff to promote the general well-being of the grade level and the school community.
We seek someone with at least five years recent classroom experience, with an emphasis in early childhood education, and a strong curricular background. An effective SFDS teacher has a thorough knowledge of cognitive and social-emotional development, uses a variety of teaching techniques, establishes positive relationships with students, collaborates with colleagues, initiates professional development, supports the mission, serves outside the classroom, adheres to professional standards and models integrity and respect. A Bachelor's degree is required.
