Executive Director, SFDS Summerbridge
100% of Full-time, Exempt
The San Francisco Day School Summerbridge program is entering its 15th year in a strong and stable position, and we anticipate exciting growth over the next few years. The position provides excellent opportunities for an individual to become involved in a stable non-profit program that is connected to an independent school as well as a broader network of non-profit organizations.
The Director oversees all aspects of Summerbridge, including fundraising and managing a $250,000 budget, planning and implementing the educational program, collaborating with Summerbridge Advisory Board, hiring and training the teaching interns, supervising the work of the Associate Directors, and large pool of volunteer staff. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in education and a minimum of two years experience in school leadership, teaching and non-profit management. A masters degree and/or experience with the Summerbridge/Breakthrough model is a plus.This is an exciting opportunity for growth and expansion. Essential Functions
Financial Oversight
The director is a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual who has primary responsibility for leadership of all aspects of the organization. This individual will support the organization’s growth, building on strong community relationships as the program refines and implements its vision. In the program’s 15th year, the director will be responsible for helping to oversee the 15th anniversary event, which will enhance the existing $1.8 million dollar endowment. The director will also be responsible for securing the estimated $250,000 annual budget, with approximately $150,000 raised from grants and $50,000 from individuals.
Program Oversight
The director provides a vision for the program, implementing evaluative tools at each level while maintaining relationships with families and students, funders, the SFDS community, and other community based organizations in the Bay Area, including the Breakthrough Collaborative, the National Office that oversees 29 sites around the country. The director will oversee the implementation and evaluation of the summer and after-school program, including hiring, training, evaluation, curriculum development, and educational workshops. The program currently serves 75 students, over 40 volunteers, and 20 intern-teachers, collaborating with parents and alums whenever possible.
